Plaza Mayor was already enormous, but now thanks to the addition of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, even the most serious shopaholic couldn’t ask for more.
This out-of-town shopping and leisure complex is the biggest in Malaga city and is close to both the airport and Guadalmar.
It’s a mostly outdoor complex, organised around a series of small plazas, creating the impression that it’s a small town of its own.
It offers thousands of visitors every year an enormous selection of both national and international stores. Plaza Mayor has around 80 shops, while the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet boasts more than 100 designer brands.
Between the two, there are more than 50 restaurants, serving traditional and international cuisine.
There’s also a multiscreen cinema, Cine Yelmo Plaza Mayor, which shows many films in English (versión original).
There is ample parking at Plaza Mayor, but it’s probably best to arrive by Cercanías train if possible (15 minutes from the city centre) to avoid tailbacks at busy times.
